November Community Program

The L.O.V.E. Project of Oklahoma presents "You Only Live Once (YOLO): Break the Silence" suicide awareness program. Our goal is to educate, empower, and provide some resources and tools to better handle suicidal behaviors.

It is important we are educated on this public health issue, how we can prevent crisis episodes that lead to suicidal behaviors and when it is important to seek professional crisis intervention.

No one is immune to suicide. In the Black community, the risk factors are much higher due to environmental and acculturative stress in the United States.

Suicide in the Black community is not discussed. Recent research findings have indicated an increase in committed suicides and attempts in the Black community, ages 20-34. The Black community have significant risk factors that heighten their chances of suicidal behaviors. We need to talk about it. One life gone by suicide is too many.
