Another great program to look out for in March (Women's Month)!!!! "The ANGRY BLACK WOMAN: Masked Depression."

We will discuss about how one dimension of a black woman is the manifestation of many issues she faces in America. Depression in different cultures have been measured by a one-size-fit-all system. It is not the case, the manifestations of depression is not always due to external loss, but rather internal loss such as a sense of self in a nation where cultural/gender identity is not celebrated as it should be. We will discuss how the assessments and measures are not culturally competent when it comes to assessing mental health. We will also discuss how Black women are at a much higher risk for depression than any other group. We talk about how Black Women self-neglect their mental health & how it associated with other physical health such as heart disease and high blood pressure.
